Closing Summary

I have really enjoyed getting more and more practice with Photoshop and I keep expanding myself with all the different tools it has to offer. I have great challenges familiarizing myself with using a mac it has been great experience. The more I use a mac the more I like it. I recently found a keyboard help site help with quick commands and keyboard options. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1343.

I have found I much depend on Photoshop for certain adjustments to photographs I have taken and it is a great tool to alter the image for instance; the contrast, the size, cropping, color changes. It is nice to manipulate your own art weather it is paintings I have previously painted or it is photos I have taken.

Corel Painter X has been a fantastic tool. This as not only been a great means to fine tune previous pieces I have painted but it is an exceptional tool in creating new pieces within the software programs themself. There are so many brushes and options use. I have a select group of brushes I like to use as I get used to using the art pad and pen and I have liked using the pastel, charcoal, and the pen for my fine lines.

In many of my pieces it is great to have the layers to revert back to. If I was creating a piece the conventional way it is so easy to keep painting and lose what you had. But in Photoshop and painter you can go back. There are so many stages in working on a piece of art that can be fine art in itself. I enjoyed taking the color out of my pieces and then adding only one color to create a monochromatic image. In painter the water color and the dry flat brush was a nice tool to use.

I can see how these technological tools; Photoshop, Painter, and InDesign will only extended and exemplify work but continue a piece into other avenues of artistic expression.

My plan is to continue to read about and practice using these software tools so it becomes second nature to help me accomplish certain art pieces that I envision in my heart and mind.

I recently went to see about getting a terabyte of storage for all the space I will need to save work I will do in the future with these technological computer software tools. The sky is open for art....Technology and Fine Art. Wow! Look at all the art work this class has produced!

Art Show Exhibit

These are the three images/prints I decide to exhibited at the art show for the 1st Friday Dec. 5th Gallery walk at the Arts and Humanities building.

New Photo for Art Exhibit

I decided to use a photography of a friend for one of my images for the art exhibit. I took a digital photo then I placed photo on a copy machine to create a black and white picture so I could actually write on with oil pastels. I took oil pastels and outlined the face and the shaded areas of the photo. After this I took this image and proceeded to take another digital image in front of small group of different sized mirrors. Each mirrors were set or possitioned at different depths thus giving the image a blocked appearance. After taking taking this new photo image I brought the picture into photoshop to make adjustments before then proceding to use Corel Painter X to add a line on the nose of the image which was missed in the conventional use of the oil pastel. I would like to say I used the oil pastel in painter but on the contrary I used the black pen which I seemed to have more control with using the pen pad connected to the Apple computer. I again went back to Photoshoope and the process was rather simple. I cropped photo, adjusted image by doing an auto contrast then went into brightened/Contrast feature and made the adjustment. I also adjusted the hue/saturation to get the best possible color level. From there I saved and opened image in Painter and I believe I used the dry flat brush feature. Here are pictures of this imagine.

Image Projects

The Process

Pictures were painted with Acrylic Medium
Took digital Image
Opened Image in Photoshop
RGB/Changed Image Size to 216
Stored layers
Changed to Black and White
Imported Images Into Painter
Used Painter to paint, touch-up, and smooth-out lines

Examples as seen above^^^

From Color to Monochromatic or Black & White

This was a lot of fun. I brought this into Photoshop and change the digital image of the painting to black and white, adjusted the contrast, and used the sphere feature before going into painter and using the dry brush. I then proceded to completely change photo allowing more negative space by completely turning photo to B & W.

Art Being considered for the Show

These are all peices being considered for the the Art show; "Lady of Passion" acrylic on canvas, "Fishing Girl" acylic on masonite, "Sax Face" acrylic on masonite (my painting stolen from gallery), "SunshineGirl-Shades", and "The Kiss/Peeking" acrylic on masonite. My plan is to use Photoshop and Painter to modify and create other pieces of art. I am exploring the possiblity of the monochromatic experience besides using certain painting options to change the color images and to use different color techniques.
